Weddings at Belfast Castle
Belfast Castle, a spectacular venue for your wedding, set on the slopes of Cave Hill in north Belfast with stunning views over Belfast Lough, was built in the 1870s by the 3rd Marquis of Donegall and is one of the city’s most famous landmarks. The beautifully landscaped gardens make an excellent backdrop for your wedding photographs.
The striking “Serpentine Staircase” at the front of the castle is in the classical Italian style and is great for wedding photographs (features in several of my portfolio images below). The staircase was added to the castle in 1894 by the 9th Earl of Shaftesbury as a gift to his mother after the family inherited the castle through marriage.
Licensed to hold both marriage and civil partnership ceremonies, the Belfast Castle makes the perfect backdrop for fairytale weddings. Recently voted as the best place in Northern Ireland for a romantic wedding by viewers of the UTV Ultimate Ulster series.
To book the Castle for your wedding ceremony, wedding reception (or both) you need to contact Belfast City Council, owners of the Estate. More details are available on the Belfast City Council website.
Below is a selection of wedding photographs from my portfolio taken at the castle…
